Paul is the Commercial and Contracts Director at Dominion Constructors Limited. Prior to joining Dominion in 2019, Paul held national commercial roles at Fletcher Construction, Leighs, Hawkins and Mainzeal. He has 30 years’ experience in the construction industry with half of that time spent in New Zealand.
Paul is a Chartered and Registered Quantity Surveyor, holds an Honours Degree in Law from the Open University, a Graduate Diploma in Law from Auckland University and is a graduate of the EY Darden Business School Executive Management Programme. He is a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Quantity Surveyors and a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, the New Zealand Institute of Building and the Institute of Directors. He is also an Associate member of both the Arbitrators’ and Mediators’ Institute of New Zealand and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
Paul has represented companies in mediation and participated as both a claimant and defendant in adjudication, arbitration, and litigation. He has been appointed to provided expert evidence in adjudication, arbitration and litigation proceedings, including on a matter before the New Zealand Court of Appeal.
In addition to being the Treasurer of the Society of Construction Law, Paul currently sits on the general council of NZIQS and chairs the RMBA Commercial Working Group. He also sits on the NZIA / RMBA Joint Contracts Committee. In 2018 he accepted a three-year appointment as the NZCIC representative to MBIE’s Building Consent Technical Research Advisory Group.
